How we select

Read the full methodology

Candidates, not a directory

We start from a master list of properties with repeated recognition across independent references — Forbes, MICHELIN, Condé Nast, brand and affiliation directories — and we keep that list private. Nothing is added because it paid to be.

Three EMPTYJET levels

Each hotel carries one designation: Preferred, Recommend or Approved. It reflects the strength and breadth of the evidence behind it, and the default order on every list is the EMPTYJET ranking.

Verified as we go

Facts come from the hotel’s own site and named public sources, each labelled with source and date. Where we have nothing verified we show nothing — no guessed prices, no stock photos.
